HOW THE CORONAVIRUS IS AFFECTING US
Kibera is a volatile place at the best of times and so understandably, in this season, our team members who live there are worried about the virus and are very concerned for the accompanying potential social unrest and breakdown. So the schools we operate are closed. The rugby program had to be suspended immediately and the Saturday Dinner Program has also been suspended due to the large numbers attending. This has left children who were already very vulnerable in a particularly distressing situation of extreme lack of food. We now have a food bank providing emergency foodpacks for 116 families containing beans, rice, oil and flour. We are also providing essential hygiene supplies of toothpaste, toothbrush, soap and deodorant. |
